Entertain Young Campers With These Five Tips
Do your kids find camping boring? If you send them away from their cell phones and computers, would they be thrown into complete dread? As for you, your dread is: how to entertain kids on a camping trip without electronics. Here are some ideas.
BOARD GAMES. Take some board games with you on your camping trips. It’s also possible to take some deck of cards or checkers, whichever is available in your house. These kind of games require more than one person to try out, so everyone will have the chance to join. Award interesting awards, say, winner gets very first pick at spot for their own sleeping bag.
BRING A BALL. Most camping grounds also have areas where you and your family can begin to play sports. You can play basketball, catch, volleyball or avoid ball. All these games don’t need you to bring large equipments which can make it easier. The entire family may participate and have fun!
STORYTELLING. When I was still young, I did before love hearing stories via my parents. Ghost testimonies are popular for a dark night outdoors but ensure it is entertaining and age appropriate. You don’t want to frighten young kids.
SCAVENGER HUNT. While taking the kids on a nature walk you could start the scavenger hunt. Make a list of all of the things that you would possibly discover on the camping ground like rocks, leaves, bugs as well as etc. Let them bring it for you and whoever gets to locate all the things, you can offer a modest prize for the winner.
PHOTOGRAPHY. Kids love to explore and what better way for them to capture the interesting subjects they’ve found is to take pictures. You can buy them a cheap one and teach them some photography skills. With all the pictures taken by their camera, they can make a scrapbook out of it.
STAR GAZING. I used to love this whenever we go on camping with my family. With our sleeping bags spread out around the campfire, we used to watch for constellations and some stars at the sky. Get a simple constellation viewer for a few dollars if you don’t know your stars.
The kids who find camping boring usually have not spent a night outdoors. Once they are out there you’d be amazed how adept they are at entertaining themselves on the camping trip
