Hear Your Children Laugh through These Camping Activities

Camping is all about bringing the family closer together and having fun. Aside from eating roasted marshmallows, having fun using the great outdoor bathroom and exchanging ghost stories, there are a number of other fun activities parents can enjoy together with their children.

Natural Bingo is one game your kids will surely have fun with. Prepare some bingo cards at home with words or pictures on them instead of numbers. Write or draw down things that you can find around a campsite, things like a piece of charcoal, an acorn or a funny leaf. This game is more enjoyable if each card is different. Hand these cards out to your children at the campsite and let them go off in search of the objects on their cards. The first one to find all the things on their cards wins the game. Bingo!

A great thing about going camping is that you can do activities you normally can’t do at home. When camping therefore, how about teaching your children about trail signs? Help them put these up around the campsite to guide all unwary wanderers. You could also try starting a fire with only two sticks. Give your children a go and reward them if they manage to make a spark. Make nice forest art using blank paper and the charcoal from last night’s fire. Allow your children to draw the things they see around the forest for a great souvenir.

For another enjoyable camping activity, help your children make rubbings of the fun things around the campsite. Collect together interesting looking leaves, textured rocks and even tree barks. Bring out crayons and colored pencils and some blank paper. Put the things you have collected under a sheet of paper, textured side up, and color over with your crayons. The image of your object will soon appear on your paper like magic. These rubbings let your children bring along a part of the forest home with them.

No matter what you are doing, it’s all more fun when you are doing it together. Camping activities in the grand outdoors are a great way of bringing the family closer together. Have fun with your kids and enjoy the precious camping moments you can all look back on ten years in the future.
