The Aztec Tent Was A Perfect Choice For My Son And His Friends

My son’s 14th birthday was coming up and when I asked him what he wanted to do for it, he said he would like a party at home with a few of his friends, then he said he would like a sleep over with all of them camping in our back garden.  There was a bit of a problem as we didn’t have a tent but that was easily solved.

I spoke to my friend who agreed to come shopping with my son and I to help us find a tent that would be ideal for him and his 6 friends. We had a look on the internet and there were plenty of six man tents to look at, however a lot of the sleeping compartments were on either side of the tent.  The boys wanted to be together so we needed the sleeping compartment to be at the rear of the tent. Once we found one that looked perfect we decided to look around a couple of our local camping department stores to compare prices.

The tent we were looking at was an aztec tent and in one of the stores it was on special offer. It was absolutely perfect for them, there was a back compartment which slept 6 but also came with a removable divider which meant they could all be together through the night.  We brought the aztec tent in blue.

The day of the party was coming quickly and my son was getting excited.  We were very lucky to have a large back garden with a swimming pool. He wanted a pool party with a BBQ then camping in the evening. We decided that pitching the tent the night before would give us more time to get everything ready the next day.

Putting the tent up was fine, it took us about 20 minutes to pitch, the colour coded poles definitely helped and I thought we did it in good time considering it was our first time. Once the tent was up it was easy to see there would be plenty of room for them all.  Although there was a sewn in ground sheet I wanted to make it doubly comfortable for them so I laid down blankets and put a few beanbags in there. I left plenty of torches around for them. I was really pleased with how the Aztec tent looked especially with a few of my finishing touches.

The day of my son’s birthday arrived and after presents it was time to check on the tent, although the weather was scorching outside we did have heavy rain fall and thunder during the night.  I was hoping everything had stayed water tight and the blankets were not soaked.  Thankfully everything had stayed dry and there wasn’t a single leak.

My son’s friends arrived and we had just about got everything ready in time.  The weather was lovely, they all had so much fun in the pool, the BBQ was on and the party was in full swing.  A few of my friends came around to join in with the fun and games.  I was nervous about 6 boys sleeping out in the tent by themselves.  I made sure they had an intercom in there and they were all aware that if they wanted to they could come into the house during the night. I did not sleep easy myself and ended up checking on them a few times during the night. However surprisingly they were all asleep by midnight.

Late morning the boys woke up for their breakfast, they had all made it through the night in the tent. They all seemed in good spirits and said that they were very comfortable and had enough room. I think buying the Aztec Tent was a good move, my son and his friends were happy and who knows maybe we could try camping for our next holiday.
