Types Of Camping Canopy

A shade canopy is one way of providing extra shade at a campsite where shady areas are hard to come by. A solution to this is to erect your own shade canopy. Many campers get a camping canopy that is large enough to cover their entire tent and general living area. If it rains you also have a sheltered area to sit and relax while you wait for the sun to come out. Other camping canopies provide a separate living area from the tent as a standalone structure. There are various advantages and disadvantages to these two different styles of canopy.

A canopy that encompasses your entire tent provides an extra level of protection from the elements. The tent will last longer as it is not so affected by the elements while in the shade. It will also not succumb to stifling temperatures making it possible for you to relax in it during the day. Added protection from severe downpours also doesn’t hurt. For added protection you may be able to erect a canvas wall around the canopy that can be swapped around during the day for constant protection from wind, sun and rain. Size and weight can be a downside for a camping canopy of this size. You will most likely need to make use of a trailer to transport it.

The large canopy that provides cover to the entire tent and living area has the advantage of sheltering the tent from the sun. As a result you will get more years of use out of your tent. Your sleeping area will also not become so uncomfortably hot that you can’t have a nap during the day. Added protection from severe downpours also doesn’t hurt. Extra shade and wind blocking can be achieved simply by putting a canvas wall up around the frame of your shaded area. Size and weight can be a downside for a camping canopy of this size. You will most likely need to make use of a trailer to transport it.

If you don’t want the hassle of a trailer these types of canopies don’t take up much room in the boot.

As a useful piece of camping equipment your camping canopy is excellent but you can also put it to good use around the home or use it for functions. Use your backyard as a venue for entertaining and feeding a large group. Trying to fit everyone inside your home can become a bit cramped and uncomfortable. Your guests will enjoy themselves more if they can mingle freely in a less cramped environment.
